We are working with a leading Belfast based business (industry) that is looking for a Commercial Accountant to join its finance team. The successful candidate will have full P&L responsibility and ownership for their area of the business, this position will suit a highly motivated individual who enjoys managing a varied workload and is interested in working within a multi-disciplined team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing further models whilst shaping and delivering against strategic objectives and being a key driver of improvements and high standards of service and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for the production of monthly and quarterly accounts, analysis including detailed reviews against budget
  • Continuous planning to align with latest business performance, group strategy and changing market conditions, working closely with key managers to ensure forecasts are accurate and realistic;
  • Ownership of detailed Business Plan forecasts, challenging assumptions provided;
  • Responsible for regulatory returns to ensure compliance with licence and tax obligations;
  • Ensure Accounting is in line with IFRS and Business/Group Accounting Policies;
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal, external and compliance audits;
  • Develop relationships with key commercial stakeholders;
  • Provide insight and recommendations to senior managers on commercial initiatives and provide meaningful analysis to assist in decision making; and
  • Development of robust and efficient financial reporting, financial reconciliations and forecasting processes to meet the growing needs of the business, sister company and parent company.

Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experience working within a finance team in industry
  • Experience in producing management accounts and month end reporting, with ability to identify and provide meaningful variance analysis to the business
  • Competent in budget setting and forecasting
  • Strong Financial analysis and advanced MS Excel Modelling skills
