To ensure all financial reporting and compliance requirements are delivered effectively and efficiently and in compliance with all divisional and group accounting and reporting policies and procedures, including managing the integrity of the balance sheet and working capital and cashflow management.

This is a wide-ranging role that covers all aspects of financial accounting and working capital and cashflow management together with being a key support to the Finance Manager.

Responsibilities

Monthly and Quarterly Hard-Close, Year-end and Statutory Accounts and Forecast/Budget Process  

  • Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and the control and management of the trial balance and chart of accounts
  • Preparation and review of periodic and quarterly key balance sheet reconciliations
  • Development and implementation of processes and procedures in accordance with Group policies and internal/external audit recommendations.
  • To support the forecasting and budgeting processes through the preparation of schedules and commentary as required covering: fixed assets, depreciation, cash flow and working capital.
  • Act as the main point of contact for both internal and external auditors

 Working Capital Management 

  • Lead the fixed asset reporting and capex approval processes including reviewing and appropriately challenging the Capital Acquisition Requests (CARs)
  • Ensure all working capital, WC KPI and cashflow forecasting/budgeting and reporting for the division is completed accurately and on time together with all supporting analysis

 Financial Controls 

  • Complete the quarterly internal control checklist
  • Devise and manage delivery of action plans to improve control scores
  • Introduce controls and processes where required to address any identified risks/weaknesses
  • Manage the internal and external audit processes including auditor liaison, in conjunction with the Internal Control Manager.
  • Support the Finance Manager and/or the Internal Control Manager in developing and implementing new controls procedures.
  • Manage delivery of the monthly, quarterly and annual hard close process to ensure high quality completion of reconciliations and controls on a timely basis.
  • Provide high quality support to the finance manager in maintaining first class financial controls.
  • Training the finance team in the implementation of controls.

 Treasury management, Tax and Compliance

  • Review of NI Vat return to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Lead the quarterly VAT product file review to ensure correct VAT rates are being used across the business

Requirements

  • Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • 2+ years post qualified experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Logical, thorough and tenacious in approach to work with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to consistently drive standards and achieve targets
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to analyse, decipher and report on large volumes of data in a concise and timely manner
  • Good knowledge of Accounting Standards and practices
  • Ability to demonstrate strong initiative and an achievement orientated approach to results
  • Successfully able to handle multiple demands and competing priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong report writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the business
